Nestled in the heart of Garland, Texas, Meshack's Bar-B-Que stands out as a quintessential destination for barbecue aficionados seeking authentic East Texas flavors. This beloved barbecue restaurant invites you to savor the smoky, tender goodness of their expertly crafted meats, serving up classic Texas barbecue that feels both comforting and exhilarating to the palate.
At Meshack's, the star of the menu is undeniably the Smoked Ribs—each rack boasts a perfect balance of smoke and seasoning, yielding a melt-in-your-mouth experience that keeps patrons coming back. The Pound Ribs and Pound Links deliver generous portions of richly smoked meats, while the Chopped Beef Sandwich and Rib Sandwich shine with robust, savory flavors that echo old-school Texas barbecue traditions. For those craving variety, the Mixed Dinner plate offers a hearty selection of tender brisket, sausage, and ribs complemented by classic sides like baked beans and creamy potato salad.
Diners often rave about the “best sliced brisket” they’ve ever tasted—moist, flavorful, with just the right touch of smoke that never overwhelms. The East Texas Link Sausage bursts with juicy, spiced goodness; it’s clear that Meshack's knows how to smoke their sausages to perfection. The baked beans side, frequently described as the best in the Dallas area, offers a comforting, slightly sweet counterpart to the smoky meats.
The atmosphere at Meshack's Bar-B-Que has the friendly warmth of a family-run operation, reflected in the approachable service and community vibe. Although it’s not a sit-down restaurant and the line waits can be a test of patience—especially under Texas sun—regulars agree the wait is always worth it. Many customers note the sibling warmth and genuine hospitality of the owners and staff, who greet each guest like family and make the ordering experience as inviting as the food itself.
Tips for first-timers: come early to avoid long wait times and bring cash, as electronic payments aren't accepted. And don’t be shy about ordering generously — portions are hearty, with some visitors discovering that one plate could easily satisfy two people. This generous spirit extends in every bite, with smoked brisket, ribs, and sausage each telling the story of time-honored pit mastery.
In sum, Meshack’s Bar-B-Que isn’t just a meal—it’s a heartfelt experience that transports you deep into Texan barbecue tradition with every smoky, tender bite. Whether you're a local or just passing through Garland, this spot promises a flavorful, homey, and utterly satisfying BBQ adventure that’s hard to find elsewhere.
I am a big time Buc-ee’s chopped sandwich fan and this place serves as good as theirs. It’s tastes amazing, clean BBQ meat. The only off thing about this spot is the wait time. You gotta be early and wait at least 20 mins to get your order but it’s totally worth it. Would really appreciate if the management can put up a shed outside to save us from the scorching sun. Definitely going back again
First time trying this place. I ordered the 3 meat plate and for $17 it was a lot of food. I made the mistake of ordering two plates when one was more than enough for two people (we aren't big eaters). I'm not a big smoked meats eater but the brisket was tender and the sausages were juicy! Go with cash as they do not accept cards or electronic wallets. Go early as it can get busy and you have to wait at least 15 minutes with a fairly lite crowd.
Can we get more stars above? 5 is not enough for this place & the owner(s), family & employee's!!! That was probably the BEST SLICED BRISKET that I have ever put in my mouth. It was cooked to perfection. Just the right amt of smoke from cooking. Most places over do it & you find yourself belching it for 3+days. They do know what they are doing. It was fantastic!!! Melted in your mouth. And the BBQ sauce.... OM! They have 4 or 5 heat levels. I had em' put it on the side & I tried hot (not extra) & mild (not extra) & both were delicious! I was putn' it on my sandwich & eatn' it w/a spoon out of the container at the same time! And the people in there preparing, owner, wife, son & the rest of the crew were TOP NOTCH! The absolute sweetest people you'll probably ever meet!!!! Thank you guys for the food you prepare/serve/sale, your hard work, your smiles, the friendliness & love in your hearts. Its is so appreciated & welcomed in today's world. Sure wish the world was full of people like ya'll. May God Bless each & every1 of you. I 'WILL' be back! Bj
Grabbed a half pound of brisket and links to have for dinner and, as always, it was delicious. The service by the family who own Meshacks is very warm and friendly. 100% recommend for awesome BBQ.
I’m in Dallas for a long-term work contract, so I have been trying as many BBQ places as possible.Meshack’s, although not a sitdown place, is still my favorite. Plan to wait in line, but it is worth it. I ordered the three meat combo with brisket, pork ribs, and sausage. I got the sides of beans and potato salad. Brisket was moist and flavorful. The beans are the best I’ve had in the Dallas area, with brisket mixed into them. Wonderful potato salad recipe if you like potato salad. All that cost me only $18. The only drawback for me is there’s no place to sit down there, you have to take it home, and no cold beer! Overall, this is my favorite over every other place. I’ve tried in the Dallas area.
Parking at the shack is catch as catch can, and the price point on a very select, old fashioned 'cue menu about the best you will find in the country today. We opted for a pair of 3 meat platters at $16 per plate--lean brisket, ribs and rib tips, links, and the mandatory sides of baked beans and potato salad. The sides were sides, but Meshack's is definitely about the meat. The links had good snap and the ribs were well prepared, separating cleanly at the bite. Both had a flavor profile pleasantly tilted to the peppery side (just the way we like it). The brisket had nice bark and pink ring, but the central Texas rub didn't really kick in until we had them for dinner some 8 hours later. We were happy with the food here, and look forward to another visit. It was fun talking 'cue with Donna, who took good care of us during our visit-- our 99th BBQ stop in Texas, and the 399th nationwide.
I actually tried them for the first time. I wasn't disappointed. Ribs were delicious and flavorful and chopped brisket was good as well. I will try sliced brisket next time. The ribs for sure was a win,win I grew up on BBQ from east texas and this is how good bbq taste. The bbq from Dickies, Spring Creek and other big chain bbq spots isn't real southern country bbq taste.
